Our top breweries in the SF Bay Area
If you have met Ally and I, you know we are beer snobs. We have our own beer instagram account (coupleof_hops), have sampled over 1K beers, and we recently made friends pack a few cases of our favorite east coast beers for our wedding. If there is a brewery nearby, Ally and I will always make a pit stop. We love hazy IPAs so our sample may be a bit biased but here are some of the places we have been to since moving to CA:
The Cream of the Crop
Humble Sea Brewing – Pacifica and Santa Cruz
Go to Beer – Socks and Sandals
Insiders tip – Try the fish and chips!
Other notes – It’s a short drive from SFO and their IPAs (called foggy IPAs) are some of the best we have had. They also allow dogs on their patio and have plenty of tvs to watch games
Fieldwork Brewing Company – Napa, Berkeley, San Ramon, others
Go to Beer – Pulp
Insiders tip –
Napa Taproom: Pair with C casa tacos from the oxbow market
San Ramon: Try their homemade pizzas (Hail Mary and Fun Guy are our favs)
Berkeley: Try their pubmix
Other notes – A new staple in the bay area that is becoming widely available. They also make great sours, lagers, and stouts. All locations allow dogs on their patio.
Great Notion Brewing – Berkeley
Go to Beer – Jammy Pants
Insiders tip – pretty new tap room, dogs allowed inside/outside and can bring outside food
Other notes – Great Notion started in Portland, OR and we are so so happy to have them in the Bay!
Okay beer but we love the taproom
The Rare Barrel- We love the sours!
Del Cielo Brewing Co- Super fun taproom in downtown Martinez. We love the nachos and live music.
Five Suns Brewing- Also in downtown Martinez and walking distance to Del Cielo. Huge patio and can bring in outside food. States Coffee is next door and is also delicious.
Side Gate Brewery- Lots of IPAs and a food truck on site. Make sure to walk around Todos Santos Plaza in Concord too!
